Frequently Asked Questions

Product

Is there alcohol in BERO?

Technically, yes, but just a touch below 0.5% ABV, which is considered to be the legal threshold for non-alcoholic beverages. For comparison, soy sauce is made through a natural brewing process similar to beer and typically contains 1.5-2% ABV, and no one’s calling that a cocktail.

Can I drink BERO if breastfeeding or pregnant?

Always consult your physician before consumption. That’s important in any health-related decision. While it’s unlikely that non-alcoholic beverages—in moderation—would pose a risk, there is no safe level of alcohol intake when pregnant or breastfeeding.

How many calories are in each beer?

  • Kingston Golden Pils: 85 calories
  • Edge Hill Hazy IPA: 70 calories
  • Noon Wheat: 70 calories

How is BERO made?

For the beer aficionados out there, we start with the same foundational steps as a full-strength beer by creating a “mash” with our high-quality malts. From this mash, our solution of sugars, called wort, is obtained. By brewing at higher temperatures, we obtain a blend that’s intentionally lighter on alcohol but big on flavor. We start our wort at 5-6%—versus the usual heavy-hitting 12-13% for a regular beer. Next, we introduce a special maltose-negative yeast. Fancy name, but here’s what matters: this yeast doesn't consume the malt sugar (maltose), but it works its magic on simpler sugars like glucose. To put it simply, we brew in a way where we don’t need to remove the alcohol because we aren’t creating any alcohol to remove. Our beer then goes through a natural fermentation process. No tricks, no shortcuts. What really makes BERO stand out is our malts—giving every sip a rich, full-bodied taste with unmistakable character that sets our brews apart.

What ingredients are in BERO’s beer?

  • Kingston Golden Pils: Water, malted barley, hops, yeast
  • Edge Hill Hazy IPA: Water, malted barley, malted wheat, malted oats, hops, yeast
  • Noon Wheat: Water, malted barley, malted wheat, malted oats, hops, yeast, and other natural flavors

I am diabetic, can I drink BERO?

Always consult your physician before consumption. That’s important in any health-related decision. The product does have carbohydrate content.

What allergens are contained in BERO products?

Wheat.

Does BERO contain yeast, wheat, gluten, or dairy?

Yes, our beers contain yeast, gluten (because of the malts), and wheat. This is part of the natural brewing process. However, our beer is dairy-free.

Does BERO contain any added sugar?

None. We believe in letting the natural flavors shine.

Is BERO certified Kosher?

Not at the moment. Keep an eye out for updates on our website.

Is BERO vegan?

BERO is not currently “vegan certified”, but it could be considered vegan. We do not use any animal-derived ingredients in our recipes, including honey.

Do you have a regenerative agriculture certification?

Not at the moment; however, we are considering it. Keep an eye out for updates on our website.

What is the expiration date of a BERO?

Your BERO’s “best by” date can be found on the bottom of every can and on the carton. In some cases, you may see a batch number instead of a “best by” date, in which case the expiration date is 365 days from that date.

How should I store my beer?

Whenever possible, store your beer cold / cool—below 50 degrees Fahrenheit is the sweet spot. Never expose your beer to hot temperatures or heat sources.

What is the optimal drinking temperature?

BERO is best enjoyed between 36–40 degrees Fahrenheit.
