With over 40 years of experience as brewmaster at some of the world's most prestigious breweries, Grant Wood is passionately dedicated to the craftsmanship, tradition, and essence of brewing exceptional beerโ€”what he affectionately refers to as "the beverage of friendship".


His work on BERO has been a true labor of love, characterized by continuous iterations and an unwavering commitment to refining the formula, much like perfecting a cherished recipe, to provide the utmost pleasure.

STEP 1 of 4
Masterful mash
The foundation of any exceptional brew is the mash, and we start with nothing less than the finest malts, masterfully prepared. Our higher brewing temperature creates a blend thatโ€™s intentionally lighter on alcohol but big on flavor. We start our wort at 5-6% โ€“ versus the usual heavy-hitting 12-13% โ€“ to keep things crisp without going overboard.

Yeast that makes all the difference
Next up, we introduce a special maltose-negative yeast. Fancy name, but hereโ€™s what matters: this yeast doesn't touch the malt sugar (maltose), but it works its magic on simpler sugars like glucose. The result? Bold flavors from fermentation, but without the alcohol.

Fermentation the BERO way
Next comes the natural fermentation โ€“ no tricks, no shortcuts. Just yeast doing what it does best, bringing out layers of complexity. This is where the refreshing bite of a pilsner or the smooth, slightly tropical notes of an IPA begin to shine, giving each brew a unique depth that exceeds expectations.
